As highlighted in posts on this blog, Partners HealthCare is committed to advancing diversity and inclusion across our organization and in our communities. Now, with a newly launched initiative led by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, we join nine other organizations committed to expanding economic opportunity for minority-owned businesses.

As an inaugural member of the Pacesetters Initiative, Partners will increase contracts with minority-owned businesses as suppliers of our products, supplies, and services. We will build on our existing supplier diversity program to set new targets for minority-owned business spending, measuring and reporting such spending, and share best practices with other Pacesetters through participation in Chamber-convened events and programs.

Leveraging large Boston-area organizations’ substantial purchasing power is not only the right thing to do to enhance inclusion, but will help extend economic growth throughout the region. “This effort is an important element of creating additional economic opportunity and improving health in the communities we serve,” notes Partners HealthCare President and CEO David Torchiana, MD.
