We’re pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement in principle with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office that will allow Partners HealthCare to move ahead with partnerships with South Shore Hospital, Harbor Medical Associates and Hallmark Health System.

These affiliations support our mission to offer the highest-quality care to communities throughout Massachusetts, closer to the homes of our patients and their families and at a lower cost. As with all the communities we serve, we’ve made a commitment to bring the best possible care to the patients and families of Hallmark Health System, South Shore Hospital and Harbor Medical Associates.

Partners has a responsibility to take on some of the toughest challenges in health care: improving care coordination and making care more affordable for our patients. This agreement in principle allows us to take a further step forward and build upon years of work in the area of affordability – ripping up existing contracts with insurers and taking $300 million dollars in costs out of our system. We hope that this work and the work that lies ahead can help provide a roadmap for the entire industry.

Our talented team of 60,000 employees has been leading the way in redefining the future of health care, and now we look forward to the opportunity to continue to expand access to affordable, quality care to the patients and families served by South Shore Hospital and Hallmark Health System.

For details of the agreement in principle, please read Partners President and CEO Dr. Gary Gottlieb’s message to the Partners community.
