Jenis, MD, of Newton-Wellesley Hospital is one of a growing number of surgeons utilizing videos to provide both pre- and postoperative care instructions. Dr. Jenis sends stock videos to patients to educate them on their procedure, and offers virtual video visits, accessible via smartphones or home computers.

“It’s great for patient access to us,” says Dr. Jenis, who is also chief medical and innovation officer at NWH. “They don’t have to take time off from work, away from their families, sit in traffic. It’s also great for the health care system in terms of costs of care.”
