Dear Colleagues,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.

Before we ended 2019, I shared with you our system-wide unified strategy to build the premier globally recognized, integrated academic health care system of the future which 1) delivers excellence and innovates across the full spectrum of care with patients at the center and 2) is enabled by research, innovation, new technologies and you, our talented workforce.

Our strategy was developed by senior leaders across the system and will serve as the single, unified strategy for all parts of our system. It is helping us set priorities and goals, make investments, organize ourselves for success, develop local implementation plans and measure and hold ourselves collectively accountable for performance.

Our work throughout this year is focused on two things. First, we will focus on how to best serve our patients. Second, we will focus on deepening and broadening our impact by implementing our strategic plan. Success will require moving faster and with greater accountability, and substantially increasing coordination and collaboration across our system. We need to fully apply the passion, skill and dedication of all our people and each of our institutions. We must be collectively focused on nothing less than improving the health of patients world-wide through the transformative breakthroughs in treatment and care that have been our history and will be our future.

Today, we are launching Connections, our new system-wide, bi-weekly newsletter, to provide you with updates on how we are implementing our strategy, our rebranding efforts as we transition to our new system name, Mass General Brigham, and report on other milestones and stories of interest from across our system. As we round out the third year of Partners 2.0, we will continue to provide information on our progress as we work to achieve our goal of $500 million in system savings.

This edition includes information about our operational performance in 2019, which positions us to succeed in 2020; our outpatient center strategy and our continued commitment to a diverse and inclusive workforce.

I am looking forward to all we will accomplish this year, and I thank you for all that you do for our patients.

Sincerely,

Anne Klibanski, MD

President and CEO, Partners HealthCare
